These iconic words engraved on the blade define this historic sword replica. The creed of the Knights Templar - Nothing for us, Lord, nothing for us but for the glory of thy name - marked their illustrious and sometimes infamous 200 year military influence. This magnificent sword named The Accolade would have been a sword worthy of the Grand Master to knight a loyal member into this holy order. The best metalsmiths from Windlass Steelcrafts have spent hours on each blade, hand forging the high carbon steel for optimal balance, quickness and durability. The pommel features a highly detailed Templar coin on each side with Latin inscription and the symbols that have grown synonomous with the Templar Order, while the grip is hand-wrapped with a rich genuine red leather with a wire over-wrap. The sword includes a custom, matching wooden scabbard covered in top grain, heavy-duty leather and a period belt with solid metal fittings.

This particular blade form was put to use during a wide range of European history by a wide range of cultures, from Ancient Celts and Greeks to well through the Renaissance. Knightly Pole Axe

We ran across this pole axe in a private collection and immediately decided we needed to replicate it. With a long history of use, the pole axe was very popular in the lists, with the winner being decided by the number of blows fairly struck. It was also quite popular for use on the field of battle. With a good sharp point it could be used as a short spear, the back or spike could be used to pierce armor, and the axe head itself was quite lethal. Great Sword Of War

Circa 1200-1300
This massive Lowland Claymore is like one held by the Bruce clan which they assert belonged to Robert the Bruce himself. It is certainly the correct type for that age when knights wore mail, barrel helms and some small pieces of plate, just as the Bruce did. This type of huge sword could wreak havoc on that type of armor. The long blade is fullered and of a flattened cross section and is fully tempered high carbon steel. The parts are steel and the long grip is wood wrapped in cord for a good grasp. Large swords like this were not worn but carried over the shoulder with the flat of the blade down without a scabbard during this period.

German Bastard Sword

Circa 1510
This sword is a replica of number A477 from the famed Wallace Collection. Primarily a cutting sword, with a wide blade that has a flattened oval cross section that gives very little resistance in a cutting blow. A perfect example of a true bastard sword. The proportions of the sword are that of a one handed sword, but with a slightly longer grip and a pommel shape that will allow two hands to be used. The grip is wood covered in cord and leather. The long quillions have decorative finials on the end and the side rings provide good hand protection. Well tempered high carbon steel blade by Windlass Steelcrafts®. Scabbard with antiqued parts included. Note: To be consistent with the original, the antique finish is hand applied and will vary between swords.

Sword Of Malta

Circa 1400's - 1570's
This sword will be made in a very limited run. We are calling it the Sword of Malta, named for the battle in which the Knights of St John turned back a huge Ottoman flotilla. This magnificent sword features a steel pommel with a deeply carved Cross of the Brotherhood, which symbolized their devotion and gave a point of prayer to the embattled soldiers, and a solid steel crossguard. The hand forged, high carbon steel blade is very well balanced for a cut, and stiff for a solid thrust. The grip is grooved wood and covered in genuine stitched leather which is hand rubbed to a deep luster. The scabbard features a custom wood sheath covered in thick leather to match the grip with steel fittings, allowing the sword to hang at a rakish angle, which was the fashion of the day.

Medieval Falchion

Circa 1250-1300

Although its prevalence in Medieval art testifies to its popularity, very few original falchions still exist. This rarity of surviving specimens may be more proof of its popularity; most of the falchions were used up in battle! While the double-edged sword gets most of the press, the single-edged falchion was favored by a great many knights and men at arms. The wide cutting blade was quite effective against mail (although armor was being improved by the addition of plates, only the very wealthy could afford it). Although the falchion was intended primarily to be a cutting weapon, the development of the point was not ignored.

This example has a very strong point that would penetrate mail with the hard thrust or stab. A well-designed fighting weapon made by Windlass Steelcrafts®. The blade is tempered high carbon steel, the guard and pommel are both steel and the grip is wood covered with leather. Complete with a leather scabbard.

Classic Medieval Sword

This sword is an Oakeshott Type X with a Type I pommel and a Type VII crossguard. The long and wide fuller on this blade lightens the overall sword and make it possible to deliver fast and shearing cuts, capable of cutting through the mail and padding that were worn during the period. The long guard offers good protection from an opponent's shield or blade, while the classic wheel pommel brings the sword very nicely into balance. This type of sword was in service for a long period of time throughout all of Europe.

Musketeer Rapier

Circa 1590

The musket, though the prime weapon of the French Musketeers, was a cumbersome firearm, both to load and fire. A good rapier was a necessary second weapon. Our Musketeer rapier is fashioned after those circa 1590. The basket hilt is ambidextrous and a very effective mix of both the cup-hilt and swept-hilt styles. The grip is wood wrapped with twisted wire and the parts of the hilt are plated with gleaming nickel silver. Can be sharpened for additional fee. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts®.

Deschaux Rapier

Circa 1590

With its graceful, artistic lines, the rapier has always been a romantic symbol of the Renaissance. The reality is that the rapier is a very deadly hand-to-hand combat weapon, perfectly suited for the swift moves of the duelists of the day. Many hilt forms were tried early on like this three ringed swept hilt. The grip is bone, with a wire wrapping, making for a very secure grip. This is a light, fast and deadly sword with a classical design. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts®. Includes scabbard.

Bastard Sword Of Bramham Moor

Circa 1408
This English Bastard Sword is named for the final battle that ended the Percy family’s long revolt against Henry IV of England, that had involved so many knights, lords and barons, taking one side or the other. This is the type of sword that any of those proud fighting men would have used in that contest for the crown of England. The parts are steel with a shield and cross etched on the pommel. The grip is wrapped in leather and cross hatched with leather lacing and studs for an improved grasp. The blade is diamond in cross section and is from fully tempered high carbon steel. Comes with a very nice scabbard with brass accents on the steel throat and tip. Belt also included. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts®.

Classic Medieval War Hammer

Circa 1400

By the mid 1400’s armor had developed to the point that it was almost impervious to a sword blow. That’s when the knight or man-at-arms would reach for a good solid war hammer. With sound blows armor could be damaged and crushed, sorely affecting movement and the ability to defend one's self. This hammer has a large end spike as well as small spikes on the sides. The back spike is thick and able to punch through armor. The head is attached with steel langets to the hardwood shaft which is also studded for a secure grip. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts®.

German War Hammer

Circa 1350

The proliferation of plate armor across Medieval Europe was shadowed by the development of crushing weapons like this war hammer. Since swords were virtually useless against plate armor, mounted knights used short hammers, axes and maces to defeat an opponent's improved protection. This beautiful, impressive weapon is replicated from an example in the German National Museum in Nuremberg. Steel head is secured to the hardwood shaft with steel langets. English War Hammer

Circa 1430
With the increasing sturdiness of plate armor, the sword became less and less effective against a fully armored knight. Hammers, axes and maces soon became the weapon of choice for hand-to-hand combat of the mounted knight. The war hammer quickly evolved and became one of the premier weapons. Generally it was lighter and faster than the mace. Often it was made somewhat longer, so that the reach could be extended, but it could be shortened as well if need be. We ran across this in a private collection, and fell in love with it. Light, fast and deadly. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts®.

German Mace

Circa 1550
This mace proves that weapons can be art. Although pleasing to the eye, it is deadly in function. By the 1500's hundreds armor had become very good protection from most weapons, but that was not the case with an eight bladed mace like this one. English Mercenary Sword

Circa 1400
Beautifully balanced, this is the type of weapon that the tough, hard bitten professional fighting man of his day would have chosen. It is simply a no-nonsense sword that can perfectly perform its one purpose. The somewhat small radius of the wheel pommel makes up its weight by being fully 1-1/4" thick. The stout crossguard is not overly long and is curved to protect the hand from an opponent's sliding blade or shield. The grip is wood covered in cord and leather for good solid contact. The high carbon blade tapers to a good firm stabbing point while retaining enough width for a sheating cut along its full length and is tempered to a very tough spring. Includes leather scabbard,

Great Ouse River Sword

Circa 1370-1400

This superb sword is copied from an Oakeshott Type XVII found in the great Ouse River at Ely in Cambridgeshire, England and is housed in the Fitzwilliam Museum. It's a leading example of the Sempach family of swords, named for two very similar swords found in graves at the site of the Battle of Sempach fought near Zurich in 1386. This is a long thrusting sword and like the original, surprisingly light, beautifully balanced and "ready" in the hand. The pommel and guard are steel. The two-hand grip is wood covered in cord and leather, while the blade is well tempered 1095 high carbon steel. Comes with scabbard. This sword can be seen in E. Oakeshott's book Records of the Medieval Sword. An important sword type for your collection or a great sword to start one with.

Chateauneuf De Randon Bastard Sword

Circa 1380

After the crushing defeat at Poitiers, France was unable to field a large army against the English invaders for some years and fought a long, desperate guerilla war. However, in 1380 Bertrand Du Guesclin, called the “Eagle of Brittany” mustered a large irregular force and drove Chateauneuf-De-Randon . It is for that tenacious old general’s last battle that we have named this beautiful bastard sword. The parts are steel with an etched pattern on the pommel. Wood grip is wrapped in marbled dark brown leather as is the decorative scabbard. The well-tempered high carbon steel blade is also etched three-quarters of the way down the fuller with a period floral pattern. Brown leather sword belt and scabbard are included.

Oakeshott Type Xviii Medieval Sword

Circa 1350

This German Bastard Sword has steel parts with an etched pattern on the classic wheel pommel. The grip is wood with raised bands and wrapped in a rich brown leather as is the matching ornate scabbard and included sword belt. The long blade is lightly hollow ground and is from well-tempered high carbon steel. Truly a knightly sword; German manufactured weapons were prized all over Europe.

Sword Of Homildon Hill

During the English-Scottish Wars, the King of England was preoccupied with the Hundred Years’ War in France. The border defense thereby fell largely to the Percy Family of North Umberland. During a border raid, the Scottish leader, Archibald IV, Earl of Douglas, was captured at a battle on Homildon Hill by the Percys, led by the younger Sir Henry "Hotspur" Percy. Henry IV demanded the prisoner so he could collect the ransom himself. This demand, though obeyed, was the seed that began the long Percy Family revolt that ended years later with the Battle of Bramham Moor. Hotspur was considered the greatest knight of the realm and held honor sacred.

We have named this hand and half sword for Hotspur and that battle. The fullers are engraved in Latin with the inscription Who lives in falsehood slays his soul; whose speech is false, his honor, something Hotspur took to heart. The blade is from well-tempered high carbon steel, the wood grip is wrapped in fine black cord and the detailed parts have a dark bronze finish. Leather wrapped scabbard has matching bronze fittings.

17th Century Italian Rapier

A beautifully executed 17th Century rapier with a very complex hilt and faceted pommel. The grip is hand wound with silver plated wire with woven wire rings top and bottom. The hand forged, high carbon steel, fully tempered blade features a wide fuller to lighten and strengthen it for thrusting and the heavy ricasso provides extra strength to the main stress area. Top quality, genuine leather scabbard with deeply engraved floral pattern on the throat and tip. This type of sword was deadly effective as a dueling weapon. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts®.

Pilsen Rapier

We found this rare rapier in an old catalog of antique weapons, which had described it as German, and felt we should reproduce it. The hilt shows design aspects of some larger swords, but the knot shaped basket is very unusual and we hadn’t seen its like before. The sword is light and quick and balances in the hand nicely. The parts are steel and the grip is textured leather over wood. The blade is high carbon steel and tempered to a good spring. The scabbard has a highly decorative throat and tip. Oakeshott Type Xiv Short Sword

Circa 1300

This medieval arming, or short sword features a blade that swells slightly at the top to put more weight in the hand to improve its cut and thrust capabilities, making for a very fast sword. The furniture is steel and the grip is wood covered in leather. A very effective and important sword. Includes matching scabbard. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts®. Can be seen in E. Oakeshott's book "Record of the Medieval Sword".

Munich Sword

Circa 1600

There are several of these swords in different private and public collections, one in the Wallace Collection and several at the Bavarian National Museum. It's a perfect example of a German military cut-and-thrust swept hilt carried by the Munich Town Guard. The slightly shorter blade and stout hilt were perfect for breaking up a street fight or tavern brawl, as the town guard was often employed to do, and was clearly intended for practical use. One of the most practical and prolific swords we have ever offered. Has a well-tempered 1095 high carbon steel blade. The pommel and guard are steel and the grip is wood wrapped in twisted steel wire for a very positive hold.

English Two Handed Sword

Circa 1450

It must have been a fearsome sight having this huge sword coming at you across the battlefield. This particular sword is a copy of number IV-1787 in the Royal Armouries in England. Though big, it is beautifully balanced for two handed use, allowing for sweeping cuts, and it must have swept away all in its path. The long grip is wood covered in leather and the parts are steel, making for a truly impressive sword.

15th Century Medieval Longsword

Circa 1450

The longsword, often called a hand-and-half, saw a great deal of service as a weapon of war, but was also employed a great deal as a civilian weapon of self-defense. Coupled with a dagger, the longsword was an excellent defense against robbers, thieves, footpads, assassins and even some of the robber bands that might roam the countryside. A good serviceable point allowed it to be used for thrusting, and a medium weight allowed it to be used easily and carried with equal ease. This weight also allowed it to be used with one hand with a dagger in the other. But when needed, it could be gripped with both hands for a very powerful cut. Medieval Eating Pick

Historically, eating forks actually date back quite far, much farther than most people realize. However their use through much of history has been limited to the upper classes and theirs were of course often made from expensive materials and were elaborately decorated.

So what did John and Jane Q. Peasant use? Well apart from fingers they used eating picks. Simple little skewers for stabbing food and getting it to your mouth. I suppose you could also clean your finger nails with it too...

Forged from mild steel and given a little style with a twist or two, every skewer will be slightly different. The pictures are merely examples of typical results of the smith's creativity at the forge. Burnished to a clean wire-brushed finish.

Don't be a sissy with a fork, be one of the nameless multitude with an eating pick as part of your culinary tool kit.

Defender Longsword

The Elite Line Defender Longsword is designed to be the practical utilitarian weapon of a medieval knight or man-at-arms. The simple leather rain guard helps to keep rain and other debris out of the scabbard when sheathed. Though in truth there is some debate as to the actual function of this feature it is not often seen on swords today. Here it provides a extra touch of historical interest.

The Defender is of an Oakshott Type XVIIIa. It is sturdy with a distal taper and a profile taper to a good thrusting point while maintaining very good cutting ability. The Defender balances very well and is capable of allowing the wielder to use a great deal of finesse.

The Defender Longsword performs very well in light and heavy cutting tests. Its balance is such that multiple cuts can be performed with little effort. The thrusting ability is augmented by the stiffness of the blade provided by the flattened diamond cross section.

Hand Forged and differentially heat treated in 5160 high carbon steel the Defender has excellent shock resistance and edge retention with an edge hardness of about 54 rockwell c.

Made to protect the shin, these greaves from the Milanese Suit of Armour are offered separately for the re-enactor. Although they match perfectly with the upper leg protection afforded by AB0064 they will work very well as stand-alone greaves. Battle Axe

The legendary double axe has long been associated with heroes and heroics, and the Hero’s Axe perpetuates the legend. Almost 30” overall with 10” polished edges, fearsome but with graceful lines and studded decoration, this axe is the ultimate combination of form and function. Leather edge covers for the tempered edges are provided for safe portability.

Viking Bearded Axe

These Hanwei short axes, replicating Viking weapons, are made to withstand throwing, with forged heads and hardened edges. They are well balanced and competition approved. The Short Bearded Axe provided a concentration of power behind a relatively short cutting edge, ideal for punching through any armour of the period in close combat. The Short Viking Axe was useful both on the farm and in battle. It excelled as a close quarters weapon, while still being light enough to throw when necessary.

Iga Ninja To

The neighboring Kouga and Iga clans of feudal Japan were bitter enemies for centuries and their warring Ninja families have been immortalized in Japanese literature. To commemo- rate these secretive warriors we have introduced our Kouga and Iga Ninja-To.

The dismountable double-pegged Tsuka of the Iga Ninja-To features a traditional wrap over natural rayskin and Clouds and Sun/Water and Moon Menuki. The blackened iron fittings include a Tsuba displaying the Iga Mon and a wave motif, both repeated on the Fuchi/Kashira. The Saya features a partial rattan wrap and a heavily reinforced spike. The Iga features a forged high carbon blade, differentially quenched to an edge hardness of 60HRc. Essential tool for the Ninjutsu practitioner.

Kouga Ninja To

The Kouga features a dismountable double-pegged Tsuka with a battle wrap over black rayskin and Kouga Mon Menuki. The blackened iron Tsuba features the Kouga Mon and pierced Kanji, a theme repeated on the Fuchi/Kashira. The Kanji and Mon are also employed on the blackened fittings of the spiked Saya. The Kouga features a forged high carbon blade, differentially quenched to an edge hardness of 60HRc.

Praying Mantis Katana

The Praying Mantis is a symbol of cunning and power in Japanese culture and is consequently a highly respected theme in Samurai swords. Built on our new L6/Bainite blade in the Shobu Zukuri style with Bo-Hi, and featuring superb koshirae, the Praying Mantis is a very desirable and functional piece. The subdued green silk ito and deep brown of the lacquered saya provide handsome contrast to the dark copper and golden accents of the tsuba, fuchi and kashira. The stalking mantis lies in wait for his next prey, mirroring the power and grace in this exceptional katana.

Bainite is a structure of high-carbon steel that combines great strength with excellent flexibility and shock absorption characteristics. It has been known as an exemplary Katana blade component for a number of years but its use has been restricted to a few top-class master smiths, due to the difficulties involved in performing the exacting heat treatment procedures necessary for the production of a Bainite blade body in combination with the very hard Martensite Yakiba (edge section) required for Katana blades.

Hanwei has now mastered this difficult process, using billets of L-6 tool steel (a very tough high-carbon low-alloy steel) as a starting point. Blades are forged and shaped in the normal way, then carefully heat treated to achieve the required Bainite and Martensite structures before final polishing.

Shinto Katana

The Shinto Katana has a hand-forged T10 high-carbon steel blade with Bo-Hi. The blade is differentially hardened using the traditional claying method. The Shinto is mounted in black and the tsuka-ito is made of premium black Japanese cotton.

The saya is finished in a deep black lacquer with a black cotton sageo.

A finely rendered dragon, detailed in gold, with true front-and-back detail, forms the black iron tsuba. The fittings are superbly antiqued adding to the aesthetics of the piece. The Shinto is supplied with a protective cloth bag and traditional maintenance kit.

Great Wave Katana

The Great Wave Katana displays the Tomoe motif used frequenly for family crests and shrine decoration. The koshirae are crafted in blackened iron and feature the Tomoe mon.

The blade is hand-forged from T10 high-carbon steel featuring a long (o)kissaki and is differentially hardened to produce a distinctive hamon. The saya is deeply lacquered in black. The rayskin of the tsuka has a premium woven Japanese black cotton wrap with a matching sageo.

Qi Jian

From the master swordsmiths of the Hanwei forge comes the Qi Jian, a re-creation of an ancient design that utilized one-piece forging. The entire sword, from pommel to tip, has been forged from a single billet of steel. This forging technique provides unparalleled strength and balance while exhibiting a clear, bell-like tone when struck. The sword’s name originates with the Qi nation, one of the many warring states that eventually formed modern China. Legend has it that Feng-Xuan, one of the Qi people and a central character in a well known folk tale, possessed such a one piece sword and would use its ringing quality to accompany his singing.The sword’s grip is rayskin wrapped, a feature matched by the wrap on the throat of the scabbard, making for a stunningly beautiful presentation.

Song Dao

Our Song Sword exemplifies both the traditional values and the commitment to quality of the craftsmen of Hanwei.Patterned after a Song Dynasty sword, this version features a folded K120C powder steel blade in the traditional willow-leaf design, with exquisite patterning and deep fullers. The solid bronze guard has a “flying goose” motif on the grip side, with traditional “good fortune” designs on the reverse, repeated on the pommel and scabbard fittings. The grip is leather-wrapped over sharkskin, which also covers the scabbard. The beauty of the Song sword belies the fact that it is fully functional, with great inherent strength, balance and cutting ability.

Gongfu Oxtail Dao

The Practical Gongfu Broadsword sword is a further extension of our “Practical” Series. Featuring a distal-tapered high carbon steel blade, wrapped grip and steel fittings, the saber is a traditional ox-tail design. The textured wooden scabbard is designed with a slotted opening, which makes both for easy sheathing and graceful lines. 9th Century Saxon Sword

CAS Hanwei’s smiths have outdone themselves with their recreation of a 9th Century Saxon sword by replicating a technique used by the Saxons and Vikings and producing a stunning blade that features a pattern-welded core with high-carbon edge sections. This technique was used by the old-time smiths as a means of producing blades (just for the rich folks) that were sharp, resilient and decorative and, eleven hundred years on, CAS Hanwei has made them affordable.

The sword’s design is based on a 9th Century piece found in the bank of a stream in England in 1976 and now on display in the Yorkshire Museum.

9th Century Viking Sword

Yeah, yeah, I know. But it sounds kinda funny. Not laughing? So this guy walks into a bar...

While not a direct copy of any particular sword, the Tinker Viking sword design was inspired by historical examples from the early 9th Century, most notably finds from the area around Trondheim, Norway, where the circular indentation hilt decoration was popular.

The scabbards are provided with suspension points and a period chape, giving the sheathed sword a very attractive appearance. The construction of the Viking "pair" differs from other swords in the Tinker series inasmuch as they are tang-riveted (peened) in period fashion at the pommel, primarily to satisfy Viking re-enactment requirements. The breadth of the Sharp makes for an efficient cutting profile.

Cawood Medieval Sword

Do you ever get those pesky big toads doing their toilet business on your patio? I used to until I showed them the Cawood. I didn't even have to whack any of them. Just the look of it was imposing.

The celebrated Cawood Sword, named after its discovery location near Cawood Castle in England, is regarded as one of the finest and best-preserved examples of an 11th century Viking sword in existence. Preserved in the mud of the bed of the River Ouse for almost a millenium, the sword has now found a permanent home in the Yorkshire Museum, where it is a leading attraction. What is almost certainly a “sister” sword was unearthed in Norway in 1888, giving a valuable clue to the Cawood Sword’s origin.

Hanwei’s version of the sword replicates the lobated pommel and steeplydowncurved quillons of the hilt perfectly, while the wide-fullered blade is reproduced in 5160 high-carbon steel. The weight and balance provide for a very usable sword. No details of the original scabbard are known, but the styling of Hanwei’s leather-covered version is typical of the period.

Godfred Viking Sword

Named for the feared 8th century Viking raider, our Godfred Sword is built around a beautifully patterned folded steel blade to replicate the pre-9th century originals. The interwoven leather grip, complemented by a Damascus guard and pommel, is matched by the leather-covered wood scabbard with bronze detailing and integral belt hooks. Superbly balanced, due to the deeply fullered distal tapered blade profile, the Godfred is a true tribute to the legendary Norse smiths.

Trondheim Viking Sword

Hanwei continues to push the envelope with its forging capability in the Trondheim sword, produced as a one-piece forging in pattern-welded high-carbon steel. Patterned after swords that have been discovered in the area around Trodheim, Norway, the sword exhibits early ninth-century styling, a time when the Norwegian Vikings were pillaging Britain and Ireland. The beauty of the blade is matched by the grip and scabbard, both of which are wrapped in top-grain leather, engraved in a classic Viking motif.

Scottish Backsword

Early highland swords almost invariably carried the double-edged “broadsword” blade, but by the time of the Battle of Culloden (1746) the single-edged “backsword” was at least equal in popularity. Our Basket-Hilt Backsword, replicated from an original in the collection of the Royal Armouries in England that dates from about 1760, has an unusual basket with twin engraved “horned beastie” plaques and a blade with twin fullers running most of its length.

The blade is German in origin, but the hilt and blade are contemporary. The hilt is crafted in stainless steel, to minimize maintenance, while the blade is forged in high-carbon steel. The grip is covered with wire-wrapped genuine rayskin and the basket liner, like the original, is crafted in fabric-covered leather. The scabbard is leather-covered

Scottish Broadsword

Tickle a heart angry Scotsman style.

Okay, maybe not, but it got your attention didn't it?!?

Although Basket-Hilt swords appeared throughout Britain from the mid-sixteenth century on, their association with the seventeenth and eighteenth century Scottish highlander has become legendary. Our Basket-Hilt Broadsword, replicated from an original in the collection of the Royal Armouries in England, carries a typical Glasgow-style hilt from the mid-18th century. It is likely that the blade of the original sword, marked “Andrea Ferara”, was made in Germany a century earlier and re-hilted as basket designs were refined.

The hilt is crafted in stainless steel, to minimize maintenance, while the blade is forged in high-carbon steel. The grip is covered with wire-wrapped genuine rayskin and the basket liner, like the original, is crafted in fabric-covered sueded leather. The scabbard is leather-covered.

Rev War Hanger

Based on an original of the period, our Revolutionary War Hanger (or Cutte) is accurately sized and antiqued to replicate a museum piece. The fully tempered, high carbon steel blade has a distal taper, with fullers on both sides along the spine, and is light and quick. The hilt fittings are cast in solid steel, matching the locket and chape of the leather-covered scabbard.

Side Sword

Don't worry you can use it and wear it on either side.

The Side Sword was a military sword of the 16th and 17th century Renaissance period that also achieved popularity among civilians, due to its relatively light weight and quickness. It also had an advantage over its contemporary, the rapier, in having the ability to cut efficiently as well as thrust.

Side swords were often the weapon of choice for sword and buckler fighting. Our side sword, based on a German original, is a beautifully proportioned piece that balances very well. The “swept” hilt affords excellent hand protection and the blade geometry makes for outstanding performance in both the cut and the thrust.

Cromwell Sword

Oliver Cromwell (1599 – 1658) was a powerful figure in English history during and after the English Civil War, when he rose from the rank of Captain of Horse to Lord Protector of England. His sword, said to have been carried at the battle of Drogheda in 1649, has been remarkably well preserved and is displayed in the permanent collection of the Royal Armouries in Leeds, England.

Our Cromwell Sword is an accurate replica of the original “mortuary” hilt style and features a blackened guard decorated in a gold foliage pattern with a wire-wound sharkskin grip. As the original sword now lacks a scabbard , we have provided a design typical of the period. This piece of English history is a must for the ECW collector and re-enactor.

Early Medieval Sword

Our Tinker Early Medieval Swords are single-hand Oakeshott Type XII pieces, with sharp and blunt versions with identical handling characteristics. The sharp is fullered for about two thirds of its length, with a flattened diamond section out towards the tip. The cruciform hilt is attractive and functional.

Claymore

Okay, so I'm not exactly sure what that means either...

Mainstay of the Highland warriors of the late 15th and 16th centuries, the Claymore had a uniquely styled hilt that sets it apart from other great swords of the period.

Typically of longsword length, this versatile weapon could deliver great sweeping slashes or powerful thrusts. Replicated from a surviving museum piece our Claymore is classic in its design, with distinctive sloping quillons terminating in quatrefoils and a high-collared quillon block with langets following the blade fuller. The leather-covered grip is topped by a globate pommel. The grip of the Claymore is leather-covered.

Bastard Sword With Fuller

Our Tinker Bastard swords are based on the Oakeshott Type XVIIIA and is designed so that both the sharp and blunt versions will perform identically in the hand, offering the possibility of sparring and cutting with swords that feel and respond in exactly the same way.

The sharp blade is produced in two slightly different versions - this version is diamond-sectioned throughout but fullered for about one third of its length.Wheel-type pommels are sized to provide a grip for the second hand when required, and the straight tapering cross provides excellent hand protection.

Longsword

Our Tinker Longswords (Oakeshott Type XVIIIa) provide the WMA practitioner with a fast, well-balanced pair of swords that will perform beautifully in skilled hands. The demi-fullered sharp blades exhibit a quick profile taper with a diamond section out to the tip, providing the necessary stiffness for the cutting stroke.

Bellows Face Sallet

The sallet or salade was a popular and elegant headpiece in use across much of Europe throughout the second half of the 15th century. Various forms developed during this time, all fitting closely to the front and sides of the head. Sallets made in the Italian style, like our bellows face sallet, generally had short, rounded tails that fittedclosely to the back of the neck. The extended ‘bellows’ style visor on this example is a later development that is based on a transitional piece (between the sallet and the Maximilian-style close-helm of the 16th century) that is dated to around 1490.Crafted in 14 gauge steel with an adjustable leather liner and chinstrap.

T Face Barbute

The T-face barbute was developed in Italy during the 15th century. These helmets were popular throughout Europe and offered an alternative to the more restrictive sallet. Stag Handled Dagger

This piece is a magnificent example of the bladesmith's art, if I do say so myself. The hand forged handmade blade is a magnificent slicer and stabber. Strong, razor sharp, and nicely proportioned. What really sets off this dagger is the combination of a sambar stag antler grip and brass guard and pommel. The combination lends a quiet utilitarian elegance. Includes a handmade mahogany leather sheath (pictured is a navy blue sheath designed to be worn on the calf, available as an option, email me for details).

Smatchet

No you silly, it's smatchet. A smatchet is a big mother of a knife. Originally designed by William Faibairn of the British military for American and British commandos in World War II it was based in part on the Welsh machinegunner's knife of WWI. Designed for killing Nazi's it surely performed it purpose well. Massive, though well-balanced, it positively dances in the hand. Includes a brown leather sheath. This is not an exact reproduction of the WWII smatchet but has been slightly updated while staying true to the originals design and function. Comes standard with a maple grip it can also be had in black walnut, ash, or oak (email us for details).

Belt Buckle

This hand forged handmade belt buckle is made from 1040 mild steel. It is twisted and curled for extra panache. It is made to accept belts from 1 3/4" wide up to 2" wide. The pin is also made from steel. The steel has been given a brushed steel finish. Excellent for reenactors of any period.

Adjudicator Dagger

This fine example of a handmade medieval dagger would be an excellent weapon on the hip or in the boot of a professional soldier. The grooves on the brass guard and the brass mid-ring and pommel lend a bit of style. The hand forged fullered blade is strong and lightweight. S Hook

Here they are folks. For historical reenactors and modern campers alike. "S" hooks! Dozens of uses, you can never seem to keep enough around. These "s" hooks are hand forged from mild steel and are dipped in beeswax to provide an extra measure of rust protection. Most are between 5 and 6 inches long, though we can certainly make longer or shorter ones on request. Warder Dagger

The Warder Dagger is a deadly hand forged, handmade dagger. The blade has a single fuller down each side. The hilt is brass and ash. When things go bump in the night and your sword is out of reach, wrap your fingers around the Warder. Razor sharp perfectly heat-treated steel. It doesn't need batteries or ammo, just the will to survive. This medieval dagger could have easily been found on the hip or in the boot of a professional soldier or adventurer or maybe a safety conscious merchant who's nobody's fool. Warhawk

Okay, so you are walking down some seedy alleyway, because that's what regular nice people do, and a bunch of ne'r-do-wells jump out and demand your wallet AND your life.

Not to fear...

As soon as you bring the Warhawk into play, the bad guys will all be running and looking for the closest restroom.

This bugger is small in size but huge in attitude. The axe handle is charcoal silvertone dymondwood for incredible durability and stability.

The tactical axe head is hand forged of 1020 mild steel with 5160 steel inserts for the spike and blade forge welded in place.

The bottom of the handle even has a hardened steel glass-breaker point.

Comes with a rugged leather belt sheath with a tek-lok fastener for flexibility.

Windblade Longsword

This superbly balanced handmade sword is an excellent example of an Oakeshott Type XVIa longsword. Light with a point of balance about 3" in front of the guard, this deadly blade will sing as it slices through the air.

The handle is ash wrapped in supple leather.

The guard and pommel are 1020 mild steel. Typical of 14th and 15th century longswords with a flattened diamond cross-section and a quickly tapering blade ending in a fine but sturdy point.

High carbon steel heat-treated to perfection.

Protector Longsword

The Protector is here, have no fear. This excellent example of an Oakeshott Type XVIa longsword is durable, well-balanced and fearsome in skilled hands.

The hand forged blade has a fuller for the top third and a gentle distal taper to a strong point. Even though this is a magnificent thruster, make no mistake, this sword will cut extremely well.

This handmade medieval sword could have been found in the hands of a noble soldier protecting his country from the foreign invaders.

The grip is ash wrapped with a leather cord and covered with leather. Scabbard must be purchased seperately. See below.

Frontier Butcher Knife

The shape of this blade is typical of butchering kives. This is a beefed up version more akin to our trade knife (elsewhere). Hand forged steel, a flat bevel and a keen edge.The grip is nicely stained ash secured with brass pins. Includes a handmade black leather sheath with a leather "belt-hook" for tucking into a sash or belt. This is the kind of knife that would have been traded to the Native Americans by the early European and American traders.

Sgian Dubh

Hey now, don't take that the wrong way! This little knife has a very fine needle-like point. The hand forged blade is typical of the Scottish sgian dubh. The sgian dubh was a small knife carried in the sock top or in the arm-pit. Our sgian dubh has an ash grip and a brass guard and pommel. While not a typical sgian dubh it is a very handy little blade. It includes a handmade leather sheath stained a dark brown.

Not So Swedish Medieval Chef Knife

This knife is not the kind of thing the ol' Swedish Chef would have been swinging around. It's not a large knife, but this hand forged sweetie is honed to a hair-splitting sharpness. The triangular shape and fine point were popular with medieval cooks. The handle scales are ash with a dark stain and are very comfortable to hold. This handmade knife excels at slicing and fine tip work rather than chopping. Perfect for any kitchen from 910 to 2010. Includes a handmade brown leather sheath.

Peasant Knife

This knife is based on several examples of typical medieval personal knives for utility and eating. The hand forged blade has a distal taper and comes to a fine point. Parrying Dagger

This parrying dagger has a strong and sharply tapering hand forged blade. The guard has down-turned tips and a small side-guard for extra protection while parrying. While not as large as some parrying daggers, this piece rides easy on the hip. The grip is darkly stained ash. It is fast and the balance provides excellent point control. Includes a black leather sheath.

Aggressor Dagger

The Aggressor Dagger is a stout, strong and powerful weapon. Well-balanced for fighting and exceedingly strong it does sit on the hip at 14 ounces. The ash grip and mild steel fittings provide a secure hold for tense situations. The blade has very little taper both in width and thickness to remain extremely strong for thrusting. Not modeled after any particular style of dagger from any period, it is more of a modern take on a medieval weapon. Includes a black leather sheath.

Scottish Dirk

Okay. I am a kilted maniac myself so don't take offense. I see it as a compliment. This dirk is similar to those carried by lower class Scotsmen. Nothing overly fancy, but beautiful functionality. Brass and bronze were popular in Scotland since they do not rust so that is what we've used for the guard and buttcap on this piece. The hand forged blade is stout and strongly tapered. The last four inches of the blade are double edged. The grip is made from curly maple and nicely stained. Thos rugged Scottish explorers of the 18th century might have carried a no frills workhorse like this. Includes a brown leather sheath.

The Antler Sax

This handy handmade knife is modeled after a variety of knives called sax or seax. The edge is along the straighter side of the hand forged blade and it has a fine bevel and razor sharp edge. The handle is a piece of genuine white-tail deer antler so no two of these handmade knives will ever be exactly alike. The Antler Sax includes a traditional leather sheath dyed to a dark brown.

The Longhunter

This is our longhunter knife. It is modeled after numerous historical examples of the types of knives carried by early American settlers and frontiersmen. The long hand forged single-edged blade has a fine bevel and a keen edge. The genuine white-tail deer antler crown handle is smoothly polished and comfortable in the hand. Arbiter Dagger

The Arbiter Dagger is a combination of common dagger design elements from the 10th through 18th century.

The hand forged blade is quite wide when compared to the length. This allows it to have tremendous cutting ability with long acute bevels.

Make no mistake however, this dagger still has a needle-like point and will pierce cloth, leather, and even maille armor with ready efficiency.

It is a full 3/16 of an inch thick at the guard. The bronze guard and pommel balance the blade very nicely and allow excellent point control.

The stained ash grip is sturdy, durable, and attractive. The dagger is supplied with a leather sheath at no extra cost.

Valiant Sword

Our Valiant Sword is loosely based upon several originals that are datable to around 1250 A.D.

Hand forged from high carbon steel this blade is light and well proportioned with a lively feel to it.

The guard is forged from 1020 mild steel and spatulated on the ends. There are three filed grooves to add a bit of flare. The hock-bottle grip is ash wrapped in fine cord and wrapped in black leather. The pommel is a wheel type with a cross engraved onto each face.

Many examples of this type of sword have survived and one such as this would be chosen by a tough soldier or mercenary wanting a steadfast companion to depend upon no matter how thick it gets in the melee.

Vindicator Longsword

This simple utilitarian hand forged longsword would have been the constant companion of a professional soldier or very business minded noble.

The guard is hand forged from 1020 mild steel and tapers from the center out towards the tips. The grip is ash wrapped in cord and covered in leather. The pommel is a wheel of 1020 mild steel and balances the elegant and lightning fast blade.

Weighing just over 3 pounds, this handmade sword is a heavy performer without the heavy weight. A practical battle instrument such as this could be found on a battlefield in the Hundred Years War or in use at the Conquest of Granada in 1490.

This is another excellent example of an Oakeshott Type XVIa longsword. A scabbard is not included but may be purchased seperately. See below.

Norman Sword

Our Norman Medieval Sword is a classic design that could easily be found anytime from the 9th century up through the 15th century.

The fullered blade is hand forged from 5160 high carbon steel and differentially tempered to have a harder edge and a softer spine and tang.

The simple guard is tapered from the center outwards towards the tips. The pommel is a classic wheel design with a gentle bevel from the central circle outwards.

The grip is ash wrapped in fine cord and covered in leather with a stitched seam.

We have named this the Norman sword because it was particularly popular at the time of the Norman conquest of England in 1066.

Well balanced and swift in action, you'll be proud to call this fine blade your own. Our Norman Sword is an example of an Oakeshott Type XII.

Patch Knife

The patch knife is hand forged of 1095 high carbon steel and holds a keen edge. Designed to reflect typical small utility knives used to cut "patch" material for muzzle loading firearms and other miscellaneous chores. The antler handle is secured to the blade with a pin. Filework on the back of the blade adds a little panache. The handmade leather sheath has a leather thong designed to be worn around the neck, to be ready when you need it.

Irish Skain

The Irish Skain was actually a small bronze dagger, but we have slightly modernized it by offering it in hand forged steel. Small, lightweight, portable, double-edged and razor sharp. Includes a handmade leather sheath with a belt loop. Made with a stag antler handle.

Tactical Balisong

Alright, normally I'm not too gung-ho about using the word "tactical" because it is passed around like a dirty rumor, but this knife just needs to have it. I've never been a big fan of balisongs honestly. I'm a convert now. I hand forged this blade from D-2 tool steel. The handles are forged from mild stainless steel and thermally colored to a lustrous deep blue-purple. It's a hefty bugger for sure at just over a half pound, but the action on this thing is as if it's running on ball bearings. So smooth, so slick. There is zero wobble to the handles even after letting three guys play with it for six months. The blade is razor sharp and a full 1/4 inch thick and flat ground for a superior cutting action. The back edge is honed to a sturdy, though not razor, edge. We actually hammered this sucker through a steel drum with no damage to the knife or handles (other than a little dimpling on the handle from the hammer blows). You can bet your life on this blade when things get "tactical".

Flint And Steel

When the chips are down and your lighter runs dry or your matches are wet, where do you turn? Our hand forged high carbon steel striker and piece of flint will come to your rescue. With a little practice you'll have a warm fire going in minutes. Cooking food, drying clothes, or light to read by. Our striker is left full hard so that it will send a shower of sparks when struck against the sharp edge of the flint. Designed with reenactors in mind, this tool is nevertheless perfect for camping, hiking, survival kits, scouts, and anyone else who wants a reliable fire-starter.

Hand Forged Fork

Any common hog can slam his face down into a plateful of food and chew away; the unrefined can eat with their hands after scratching who knows where; BUT the truly sophisticated use the latest in gluttonous dining accessories...the FORK! Hand forged from one piece of 1040 mild steel with a blacksmith's twist and a ring on the end of the handle, our hand forged fork is ready for action. Not heavy, thick and clunky like the forks from other sites, our hand forged fork is slim, lightweight and refined (unlike our blacksmith). Sharp enough, but not too sharp.

Riding Sword

This Riding Sword was actually a custom piece that we made to a customer's specs and because we've had so many requests for it after other's have seen the original, with the owner's permission, we have decided to offer it here.

It is very light and fast with a narrower blade more reminiscent of the late 15th and early 16th centuries. The grip is long for a shorter blade like this, but the handling and balance is superb.

Really, you have to swing this one to appreciate it. Perfect as a soldier's or knight's sidearm, it will not weigh heavily on your belt or get in your way while courting.

Sturdy, swift, deadly and with a simple class that shows the owner to be the same.

Arbiter Longsword

The Arbiter Longsword is a representation of an excellent 14th or 15th century longsword.

Students of Sigmund Ringeck will find this perfectly suited to longsword techniques.

Elegant, simple, graceful, and absolutely deadly in trained hands, this hand forged high carbon steel blade will slice through adversaries like no other. Designed to pierce, it does not lack in cutting power either.

Holmganga Viking Sword

Holmganga. Loosely translated as "going out to the island" it meant an ancient Viking honor duel. The two (or more) combatants would be brought out to a small sand bar or island and presumably only one returned.

Serious stuff.

Well, our hand forged Holmganga Viking Sword represents the steadfast, stubborn Viking personality and grim determination necessary for such endeavors.

Now we're not suggesting that you and your friends have a holmganga the next time you're having a dispute over a Risk game. However, if you were to find yourself in the unpleasant situation of needing a stellar blade for a sticky situation, this would be it.

The Hawk

Our Hawk knife is a predator pure and simple. D-2 tool steel, brass, black walnut, 1/4 inch thick construction, a fine edge and a deadly point. Ready at a moments notice to fly out of its sheath and dive into whatever chores you have. We have added a lined lanyard hole to the handle so that you can keep it from flying away. Be wary of friends who want to "borrow" your Hawk, you may not ever see it again. Seriously though this durable blade is hand forged and supplied with a razor edge. German Two Handed Sword

This massive sword is done in a 15th-16th century German Landsknecht style. Truly impressive in dimension, but not in weight, this is the kind of sword that was used for cutting the enemy pike formations to ribbons and settling honor duels.

Well balanced and truly fearsome in skilled hands it is not a piece to be taken lightly. Hand forged from 5160 spring steel with 1020 mild steel fittings and a grip made of an ash core wrapped in fine cord and black leather.

The long grip allows tremendous leverage and force to be brought to bear upon the enemy though it is quick to recover.

Thistle

The Thistle is a custom piece based upon the Medieval Daily Knife. It has been customized with engraving of thistles and ivy on the bolster and buttcap. The name "Thistle" is engraved on the blade in an old english lettering as well as a thistle and leaves. The grip is stained ash. The sheath is made from 8 oz. oak-tanned leather dyed a dark brown. Hand forged 1095 high carbon steel and differential heat-treating gives this blade tremendous edge-holding ability and supreme durability. Similarly engraved pieces are available on a custom basis.

Leaf Throwing Knife

Well-balanced and deadly accurate in skilled hands, this thrower has a bit of style. Hand forged from a single piece of 5160 spring steel this thrower has a decorative twist and a leaf hand forged into the handle end. It is heat-treated to withstand shock very well. Please use caution and common sense when throwing anything; especially THIS blade. It is sharp.

Mini Predator

The Mini-Predator is a little bugger with BIG attitude. Hand forged from a single piece of ATS-34 stainless steel its small size belies its ability to tackle big chores. Designed specifically for a forest fire fighter, it has become so popular that we've added it to our lineup of standard models. With a para-cord wrapped handle it is minimalist in weight and bulk and maximum in performance. The serrations are lightly rounded for an efficient, non-snag cutting action that tears through nylon, rope, or even kevlar with such speed that you'll feel like giggling with glee.

The Badger

The Badger dagger is a modified version of the Intrepid dagger. It has been reduced slightly in size to make it more "boot" friendly and really shines with the optional calf sheath.

The blade is forged in your choice of 1095, ATS-34, or D2 tool steel; all of which hold an edge extremely well. Go with 1095 if you like the patina it takes on with age; choose ATS34 if you prefer the benefits of stainless steel with excellent edge-holding ability; or select D2 if you want a superior blade steel that is stain resistant.

The edges are hardened to approximately a 59-60 on the rockwell "c" scale whilst the spine is a softer 50-51 and the tang is about a 46. What this means is greater shock resistance and better edge-holding ability.

The Badger dagger has your choice of hardwood or leather wrapped wood for the grip and just feels "right" in the hand. The original piece was made for testing and it continues to perform flawlessly after over 10 years of rigorous use sometimes bordering on abuse. Steel lumber-pack strapping? No problem. Seasoned hardwood? Easy. Flexibility and hammer testing? Begging for more. The tang is a full 1/4" thick.

I use this dagger on a virtual daily basis for everything from opening packages to butchering deer and as an impromptu machete.

Trade Knife

The ideal knife for the historical reenactor. Hand-forged high carbon steel; classic design; superb performance. What more would you ask? Made with a modified flat grind for superior edge-durability as well as the ability to take and hold a razor's edge. The handle is in the classic coffin shape and the scales are made of dark-stained ash. The sheath is a classic single-seam wrap-around design secured with copper rivets and with a belt-hook formed of the leather so as to be easily tucked into a sash or workman's belt. This is typical of knives traded to the Native Americans by American and European traders and explorers.

Wolverine Dagger

Small but vicious! This little bugger is up to the most difficult tasks you care to throw its way. It comes with a leather calf sheath (extended sizes available) or a boot clip sheath. In both cases it is secured with a snap strap. Flat ground for strength and a super-fine cutting edge it will perform admirably. The Wolverine can also be had with a kydex sheath with a boot clip in the ATS-34 version to make an excellent diving knife. Serrations may be added to the edge for an additional $20.00. The handle is made of strong, stable, and waterproof dymondwood.

Striker Knife

The Striker Knife is one of man's first attempts at a multi-tool. Not only can you use it to slice patch material for your muzzle-loading black powder firearm, but you can use the keen edge for other utilitarian tasks as well. On top of that, with the piece of flint (provided) you can use it like our flint and steel kit (sold elsewhere) and start a fire to cook your food and keep you warm. Use proper caution when gripping it as a striker. The edge is exceptionally sharp and the point is like a needle.

Oakeshott Type Xviiia Sword

With its long, tapering blade, heavy wheel pommel, and simple downturned crossguard, this sword is typical of single handed Oakeshott type XVIIIa sword.

Slim and quick, it was designed to combat the mostly maille and early plate armour of the late 13th century with a hard thrust.

The grip is crafted of a hardwood core wrapped in a leather cord and covered in leather for a comfortable and secure grip.

The point on this sword is very sharp and actually thins very little to maintain its strength. This sword now comes with a short fuller.

Warrior Prince

This fine sword is an excellent example of a prince's blade meant for practical use. The wide fullered blade and simple fittings are obviously meant for hard use and efficiency. This fine sword is an excellent example of a style reminiscent of the 13th through 15th centuries. The short blade is typical of riding swords worn by many knights. Eastern Viking Seax

The eastern style grip makes this design one that would have been carried by the Rus (norsemen in what is now called "Russia"). Featuring a typical serpent engraving on the blade, Harold Blue-Tooth would have been proud to own one. This blade is equally efficient cutting through brush and wood as it is through enemies. The edge is on the straight side of the blade. The scabbard (included) is of a typical norse style and hangs almost horizontally from the belt.

Throwing Axe

Our throwing axe heads are hand forged from 1020 mild steel with a 1065 high carbon steel insert. They are designed to fit standard "tomahawk" tapered handles. One handle is provided. This 14th century axe of war was valued for it's use against plate armor. The spike is absolutely fearsome in its capability and the axe blade is stout enough to dent and crack armour to get at the soft insides.
