Medieval Utility Knife

A Utility Knife From the Medieval Period

This is a medieval style knife that I made recently. It has a good sturdy feel to it. The blade is 5 inches long and 1 and 1/16 inch wide and 1/8 inch thick. The hilt is made of ash and nickel silver and is 4 1/4 inches long. It weighs 7 ounces It does have a dark brown leather sheath as well. It swallows the knife halfway up the handle.

Durable Assembly – Practical Design

Although I say this is medieval styled, it would actually fit into just about any period as a personal utility knife for a man or woman. The blade is 1095 high-carbon steel and will hold an edge quite well. The bevel is of the modified appleseed or “Moran” edge.

Hand Forged Tactical Utility Knife

A Hand Forged Tactical Utility Knife That Means Business.

A Tactical Knife That’s All Business

This knife is for those of you with a more modern palette. The entire knife is made of one piece of ATS-34. ATS-34 is a Japanese stainless steel similar to domestic 154CM. It is an excellent steel for knives that will see a lot of marine use such as diving knives, kitchen knives, as wells as so-called tactical knives and such. It holds an edge very well and has decent toughness. Throw in the high stain resistance and you have an excellent blade steel. I wrapped the grip with 550 paracord, the real stuff – not the cheap commercial crap.

Well Balanced Leaf Throwing Knife

Leaf Thrower

These blades are heat-treated and balanced for a gracefull spin..

Hey folks here’s a fun one for you. This throwing knife is made from one piece of 5160 spring steel. It is not recycled leaf-springs but new stock. I’ve made probably almost 200 of these over the years and they are consistently one of my best sellers.

Heat-Treated for Sticking and Balanced for Throwing

The blade is heat-treated differentially as always but naturally it is a tad softer overall to take the throwing use it is designed for. Overall length is just under 11 inches and it weighs 4 ounces. It does have a narrow enough bevel that it does have the ability to serve as a utility knife if necessary.
